PLC & Intelligent Control Systems
J.M.
Henderson, Arbroath, Scotland Igranic provided control equipment, which included a custom built multi-motor control panel and stainless steel control desk, using Allen Bradley PLC equipment, Inverter drives, E3 intelligent overloads and Panelview colour operator terminals. The PLC software and Panelview terminals were programmed to enable automatic or semi-automatic control of the charge car. We were also involved in both the hot & cold commissioning of the machine and provided a tailored operator & engineer training course for Corus once the project was put into full time operation which covered the SLC500 hardware / software, Devicenet and the Panelview operator interface.

Corus
(British Steel) - Scunthorpe Following on from the successful project for John M Henderson, we were asked to provide a similar set of control equipment for an existing charge car which Corus were stripping and re-building but retaining most of the hydraulic systems & electric motors. The intention was to update the control equipment to the same specification as the brand new charge car to increase reliability. An added benefit is also to reduce the number of different PLC systems and associated hardware present on the site which will in turn make routine maintenance and troubleshooting easier for the maintenance engineers.
This again
included a custom built multi-motor control panel and stainless steel
control desk, using Allen Bradley PLC equipment, Inverter drives,
Soft start units, E3 intelligent overloads and Panelview colour
operator terminals. The PLC software and Panelview terminals were
programmed to enable automatic or semi-automatic control of the
charge car. We were also involved in the commissioning of the machine
during which time the PLC software was adjusted to suit the customers
operational requirements. |

C.E.L.
International
Working with
C.E.L. and Rockwell Automation (who were providing the SCADA, PLC and
software for this project) we designed & build a motor control
centre which was designed for use with the Devicenet control network.
Starters used the Allen Bradley E3 overload, 1336 Plus II and 1305
Inverter drives. |

J.M.
Henderson, Arbroath, Scotland Supply of control equipment, which comprised of 3 motor control panels and stainless steel local control stations, using Allen Bradley Soft Starters, GE Fanuc PLC equipment, Pepperl & Fuchs 'Ident' readers (for identification of oven doors placed in the cleaner) with Horner programmable human interface modules. The PLC software was programmed to enable automatic or manual control of the door cleaner machines. We also went to site for the commissioning of the machine, working closely with our customer, J.M.Henderson, and with their end customer C.S.T. to ensure that the system performed as specified. |

British Steel (Scunthorpe) Design and build of control system for coke oven machines with a 600 I/O Square D SyMax PLC interfacing to Eaton variable speed drives, Castleland message displays, operator control desks and serial data transfer to the mainframe computer via a radio modem for status display and recipe control. The software comprised sequenced operational control, recipe management, machine travel control and mainframe computer interface. |
|
British Steel (Llanwern) Similar to the above contract for British Steel (Scunthorpe) but utilising Allen Bradley PLC5 equipment with distributed I/O. |
|
Zachem (Nigeria) Design and build of a complete control system for a water filtration plant in Nigeria. The plant included sand and carbon filters with backwash facilities and Chlorine / PH control. The control system included MCC'S and instrument panels with Allen Bradley PLC5 controllers, the SCADA system included was Allen Bradley ControlView. The software written by Igranic allowed fully automatic or manual operation of the system via the SCADA system, Igranic undertook all aspects of the contract from initial design to commissioning. |
|
ABB Wheelset (Manchester) Design and build of a control system for automated manufacture of train wheel tyres, the system was a mixture of hydraulic and PLC control utilising Honeywell IPC620 controllers and liasing with a third party hydraulic company. The system controlled various areas of plant from central hydraulic systems, rotary furnace's, 8500 ton presses and the final drawing of the tyre from a red hot blank. Additionally Igranic's scope of supply included for a custom designed graphic / job entry system written in 'C' and controlling some areas of the plant. |

United Engineering Steels (Rotherham) Design and build of a control system incorporating MCC'S and PLC control of a vacuum degassing process for engineering quality steel manufacture. The central control was achieved utilising Allen Bradley PLC5 controllers and panelview operator interfaces. |
|
British Steel (Scunthorpe) Design and build of a control system for a closed circuit cooling water plant for the Queen Bess blast furnace. This incorporated control by an Allen Bradley SLC500 controller with panelview operator interfaces. The control involved fully automatic duty standby sequencing of a number of pumps along with PID control of various tank levels. |

Others Igranic Control Systems have been involved in many other projects requiring PLC control, these included hardware only design and build on various major water projects and supply of total systems on various sites for the Ford Motor Co among others. We also pride ourselves on being flexible in being able to implement PLC systems from various suppliers depending upon the end customers preference, in addition to those listed Igranic has in house experience with Cutler Hammer, GEC and Mistibushi systems. |
