Control Equipment & Software for Refurbished Coke Oven Charge Car
Following on from the successful project for John M Henderson, we were asked to provide a similar set of control equipment for an existing charge car which Corus were stripping and re-building but retaining most of the hydraulic systems & electric motors.
The intention was to update the control equipment to the same specification as the brand new charge car to increase reliability. An added benefit is also to reduce the number of different PLC systems and associated hardware present on the site which will in turn make routine maintenance and troubleshooting easier for the maintenance engineers.
This again included a custom built multi-motor control panel and stainless steel control desk, using Allen Bradley PLC equipment, Inverter drives, Soft start units, E3 intelligent overloads and Panelview colour operator terminals. The PLC software and Panelview terminals were programmed to enable automatic or semi-automatic control of the charge car. We were also involved in the commissioning of the machine during which time the PLC software was adjusted to suit the customers operational requirements.
